Mark Millitzer • Cuba City, WI • Lampworked Jewelry

I grew up in beautiful rural Iowa and currently, I live on a farm in Cuba City, WI. My glass studio is nestled in the Mississippi River Valley, famous for its rolling hills and limestone bluffs. Coming from a long line of artists, my artistic ability was evident at an early age. Other media such as pastels, paint, ceramics, printmaking also interest me.
For the past five years I have been working and experimenting with glass. I am mostley self-taught, but first finished an apprenticeship at the City Museum in St. Louis, Missouri, studying under Greg Kremer and Robin Murez. My first experiences were "soft glass" and the "hot shop" methods. The "hot shop" style is large partner glassblowing.

Later I was instructed in "lampworking," which is a smaller, more detailed style using a torch. After attending the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, I returned to my hometown where I continue to hone my skills, using the techniques I learned in school.

Each new piece of work is a natural progression called to creation from within my soul then allowed physical existence through my hands. Organic color schemes and flowing shapes sprout like a seedling to be enjoyed by the eyes of Earth.
