Dale Repp • Lone Tree, IA • Cabochon Stones
I learned the art of metal smithing over twenty years ago through an apprenticeship, and have this has been my sole livelihood since then.
I first sold my work through galleries, then opened a store in Iowa City, Iowa. Since closing the store in 2003, I have sold my work at juried art fairs in the upper midwest.

All my pieces are made from fine and sterling silver; most also incorporate hand-cut cabochons. The techniques I use are traditional bench methods: forming, forging, soldering, surface enrichment, stone setting, fusing, etc.
I make rings, pendants, forged neckpieces, earrings, chains, and bracelets.

My aim is to make wearable pieces in which form and line integrate the metal and stone into a focused and visually clear design, free of excessive ornamentation, leaving the inherent beauty of the metal and stone to be sensed before apprehending the skill of their fashioning.
