I also enjoy sharing my impressions of the gently rolling scenery and soft light of the Midwest landscape. In short, my reaction to the world around me serves as my inspiration. |
Wisdom & Beauty |
I have learned that in slowing down and focusing on the beauty that surrounds me in even the simplest things, beauty continually expands to meet my growing appreciation.

In applying the same analogy to relationships in the human family, I can only dream of the peace and harmony that might result from all of humankind living through the virtues of tolerance, compassion, and unconditional love.
Although I have worked extensively in graphite and acrylic, soft pastel is my medium of choice. Its tactile nature and immediacy of color allow me to explore the texture with abandon. I usually work on sanded paper or board, beginning with harder sticks of pastel and graduating to softer and more intensely pigmented sticks near the completion of my painting. I use a high quality archival fixative, applying it sparingly between layers of pastel and when the painting is finished.

Regardless of my subject matter, texture is my main focus; therefore, my pastel paintings are usually left in an unblended state. I custom frame each piece using archival mat board, acid-free backing, and conservation glass.
