Alda is also experimenting with new surfaces not normally used with watercolors and occasionally adding some mixed media.

Although she paints a variety of subject matter, Alda prefers to concentrate on the local and familiar.

She likes to emphasize design in her works.

She is a signature member of the Iowa Watercolor Society and Iowa Artists. Alda's paintings hang in many collections locally, in other states, and internationally.

Alda's paintings hang in many collections locally, in other states, and internationally. Her works are owned by Medical Associates, the University of Dubuque, The Grand River Center, Loras College, the Wendt Center, Finley Hospital, The Mississippi River Museum, The Dubuque Racing Association, several local restaurants and banks, and many private collectors.

Alda's paintings were featured on two Julien's Journal covers and published in the International Artist's book "100 Ways to Paint People."

She has painted with the local Tuesday Group since 1978. She is associated with The Art Studio at Fountain Park where she paints with six other Dubuque artists.
